More and more organizations are leveraging the collective intelligence of teams to outperform their competition, to create results faster and increase productivity. Team coaching is generative in that team members apply their learning to other teams they lead. Through the coach's interventions the team becomes aware real-time of its supporting and limiting group dynamics and work habits. Armed with this awareness, the team makes adjustments to its group dynamics and work habits real-time by integrating the team theories, methods and tools brought forward by the coach. The ultimate aim is to help the team grow, improve its performance and generate real results - real time.
Team coaching is delivered by a 'team coach' who performs live interventions with the team during real meetings and work sessions that can occur offsite (as in a retreat) or onsite (as in weekly meetings). These interventions called 'moves' are aimed at helping the team become aware real-time of its supporting and limiting group dynamics and work habits. The team members integrate their new awareness and practice new ways of interacting immediately. Team members establish norms and agreements that allow for alignment in purpose and create constructive ways of moving swiftly through conflict. The team leader owns the work sessions and is typically coached by the team coach.
